Every translation we produce involves a translator, an editor, and a proofreader. We work with a worldwide network of over 2,500 certified translators, editors, and subject-matter experts to meet the highest quality-control standards. Quality assurance is carried out by our in-house project management team to ensure consistency and content integrity. 

Translation: All projects are assigned to experienced translators who are native speakers of the target language and have at least three years of experience in translation. Moreover, they are subject-matter experts who understand the underlying meaning of texts to accurately convey the subtleties of meaning in another language. Our project management staff diligently matches the appropriate linguists to your project. If several linguists are involved in the project, the project manager appoints a lead translator. The lead translator is responsible for coordinating queries, researching terminology issues, and ensuring stylistic consistency.

Editing: Once the translators have completed the initial translation, the documents are systematically reviewed by an editor who is a senior native-language linguist experienced in the subject matter. Special attention is given to grammatical correctness, terminology consistency, and writing style so that the completed text conforms to the original in meaning and style. After editing, the translation is returned to the original translator, who incorporates any necessary corrections. This creates a continuous improvement cycle as the translator and the editor refine the client’s stylistic and terminology preferences.

Proofreading: During the strict quality-control phase, native speakers of the target languages and in-house proofreaders work side by side to proofread the documents and verify that the foreign-language text is complete and properly laid out. A checklist of items such as annotations, table of contents, references, tables, figures, charts, proper names, footnotes, and end notes is completed to verify consistency of layout between source and target languages and adherence to client instructions. The verified product is signed off by the original translator, the in-house proofreader, and the senior project manager.

In-country review: We encourage clients to invite their overseas offices to provide feedback and fine-tune industry-specific terminology used in their particular markets.  We prepare the translations for in-country review and, when pertinent, provide clear instructions to obtain constructive editorial comments that can be efficiently implemented. By involving in-country reviewers at the onset of a project, stylistic changes are reduced to a minimum, the workflow is seamless, and files are delivered on time and within budget. 

Glossary development: As a part of our quality-assurance process, during the course of a translation project, our linguists develop glossaries to help ensure accuracy and consistency during the project and beyond, for future updates. Whenever possible, we recommend that our clients approve the terminology up front. This feedback is invaluable, as often there is more than one way to translate a term and knowing our clients' preferences in each country helps to minimize mistakes and inconsistencies, saving time and costs associated with rework.
